Email Setup - Microsoft Outlook Express 4.x

  1. Open Outlook Express.
  2. From the Tools menu, select Accounts.
  1. Click the Add button and select Mail.
  1. In the Display name text box, type your name.
  1. Click Next.
  2. In the Email address text box, type your email address.
    For example:
  1. Click Next.
  2. From the My incoming mail server is drop-down menu, select POP3.
  1. In the Incoming mail (POP or IMAP) server text box, type
  2. In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server text box, type
  3. Click Next.
  4. Check the circle next to Log on using:

Warning! Do not select Log on using Secure Password Authentication.

  1. In the POP account name text box, type your email address.
  2. In the Password text box, type your password.
    Note: your password is case-sensitive.
  3. Click Next.
  4. In the Internet mail account name text box, type emailMyName Mail.
    Note: You can name this anything you want.
  1. Click Next.
  2. Check the circle next to Connect using my local area network (LAN).
  1. Click Next.
  2. Click on the Finish button to save your settings.

Important: To send your emailMyName email using your Outlook Express, you must configure your email account to use authenticated SMTP. Follow the instructions listed below.

  1. To begin, open Outlook Express.
  2. Click the Tools menu and select Accounts.
  3. Select the Mail tab
  4. Select your emailMyName account by clicking on it once.
  5. Click the Properties button on the right.
  6. The Properties screen will be displayed.
  7. Under Outgoing Mail Server check the box next to My server requires authentication.
  8. Click Apply and then click OK.
  9. Click the Close button to finish.
